'A Silent Story' is the story and study of African-American women breaking through the social stigma and personal fear surrounding a diagnosis of this potentially deadly disease. The film will also give a voice to women looking to speak out and help educate their vulnerable sisters. At the center of the program will be the life and struggles of long-time AIDS activist and singer Rae Lewis-Thornton. Rae has been living with HIV for 27 years and AIDS for 17 years. She rose to national acclaim when she told her story of living with AIDS in a cover story for Essence Magazine in December 1994. Now, fifteen years later, she lives alone in one bedroom apartment on Chicago's South Side, forgotten but still fighting.
